It is recommended to close all files and lock the drive. GFI Backup can be configured to lock drives by default from Settings - Backup/Restore Settings. Technical Information This happens due to a failure in VSS when determining the Volumedevice GUID on a GPT disk. Solution The GPT disk or partition needs to be locked to create the backup. This can be done from the Administration Console -> Settings -> Backup/Restore Settings, and check the option Automatically lock partitions during disk imaging if VSS is not working.

Issue Encountered When backing up to tape, you encounter the following error: ERROR: User intervention required: The free space on the inserted tape media in device 4 millimeter DAT drive is only 8.60GB, while the required space is 11.66GB.
