Can multiple GFI EndPointSecurity installations control the same GFI EndPointSecurity Agent?

The GFI EndPointSecurity Agents need to connect to the GFI EndPointSecurity main installation. This connection is required to show which EndPointSecurity Agents are online, and to transfer log information which will eventually be stored in the central database.

The GFI EndPointSecurity Agents can only connect to the GFI EndPointSecurity main installation which was used to deploy the agents. If the agent is updated by another EndPointSecurity main installation, only the last protection policy deployed on the machine will apply.

Note however that you may have 2 or more GFI EndPointSecurity installations used to monitor different machines. These can also be configured to log to the same central database.

Note:

In order to update GFI EndPointSecurity Agents which were not originally deployed by the same GFI EndPointSecurity installation, you would need to configure the same Agent Security password in both instal

Why are the custom messages not appearing when the user tries to access a device?

Custom messages are displayed whenever a device is connected to the machine. The custom message is therefore displayed when connecting a USB stick or a portable printer, for example, but will not receive any messages when inserting a CD into the CD drive, since the CD drive is already plugged in to the machine. The same will occur if a floppy disk is inserted in the floppy drive.

Note:

Even though no pop up messages are displayed, access to the device will still be controlled by the GFI EndPointSecurity Agent as defined in the protection policy of the specific machine.

Do I need to install GFI EndPointSecurity protection control agent on each machine?

Yes, the GFI EndPointSecurity protection control agent needs to be installed on each machine. However, this can be easily managed remotely from the GFI EndPointSecurity console. The deployment of the GFI EndPointSecurity protection control agent can also be done through Active Directory Group Policies.

The following links describe the different deployment methods:

Deploy immediately through the GFI EndPointSecurity Console
