       When sending SMS alerts with GFI Network Server Monitor, we recommend using Wavecom Fasttrack GSM modems. These modems are specifically designed for computer based applications and are far more reliable than using a mobile phone.</p>

If you have not yet received your Self-Service portal credentials, upon submission of your next support request, please request this information when logging a case with GFI Support.     <title>How do I configure a user account to have logon as a service' permissions?</title>

When installing a service to run under a domain user account, the account must have the right to logon as a service on the local machine. This logon right strictly applies only to the local computer and must be granted in the Local Security Policy. 

Perform the following to edit the Local Security Policy of the computer you want to define the logon as a service' permission: 


  Logon to the computer with administrative privileges. 
  
  Open the Administrative Tools' and open the Local Security Policy' 
  
  Expand Local Policy' and click on User Rights Assignment' 
  
  In the right pane, right-click Log on as a service' and select properties. 
  
  Click on the Add User or Group' button to add the new user. 
  
  In the Select Users or Groups' dialogue, find the user you wish to enter and click OK' 
  
  Click OK' in the Log on as a service Properties' to save changes.

    <title>How to monitor websites that use a self-signed certificate</title>

Issue Encountered:

When running an HTTP check for the availability of a website that uses a self signed certificate the following error is seen in the monitoring window:


  FAILED: Unable to establish a new connection (check your URL, path and credentials)</p>

Technical Information:

The solution below is given to assure that the GFI Network Server Monitor can successfully communicate to the remote servers using SSL. This check will only work if the SSL certificate is properly created. That is, when you visit the site in Internet Explorer by entering https://servername you should be immediately taken to the site without being prompted about certificate security details.</p>
